The Journey
Travel north from Port Douglas and cross the Daintree River on the ferry, to follow a spectacular, scenic route which traverses World Heritage Rainforest to
Cape Tribulation.
The drive to Cape Tribulation takes at least 50 minutes from the ferry.

THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW

Daintree Ferry Information—A ticket on the Daintree River ferry costs $18 per vehicle. The ferry operates continuously from 6 am until midnight, every day. The journey takes 10 minutes.

Car Information—The road to Cape Trib is a sealed road . You do not need a 4WD. The driving time from Port Douglas direct to Cape Trib is 90 minutes and from Cairns direct to Cape Tribulation is 2 hrs and 15 minutes. This time does not take any stops into account.

The Cassowary
Make sure you drive slowly for Cassowaries to cross the road. There are at least four place where Cassowaries are frequently seen by the roadside. Watch for the signs.

Guided Rainforest Walk from 10.30 - 12.30 pm
Masons Tours will provide you with the opportunity to explore the rainforest at Cape Tribulation on a 2 hour guided walk. This is a special opportunity to spend time in the Daintree Rainforest on private land, with a well informed local resident, who knows the forest well, on a slow paced walk covering 3-5 km on real jungle tracks.

Where does the package start?
You should plan to be at Masons Information Centre and Shop, on the main road at Cape Tribulation, 34 kms north of the Daintree River, at 10.15 am.

 

Lunch at Dragonfly from 12.30 - 2.00pm
Relax after the walk, and enjoy lunch at Dragonfly, a gallery-cafe with a rainforest ambience and an enticing menu. You can browse the local arts and craft in the gallery and photograph the treefrog living in the pond by the verandah.

 

Public Transport Option
Contact Sun Palms on 4084 2626. The bus
arrives at Masons Info Centre/Shop at 10.25 am and the 3.30pm bus departure from Cape Trib can pick up from Cape Trib Exotic Fruit Farm at the end of the tasting at 3.30 on request.

Exotic Tropical Fruit Tasting from 2pm - 3.30pm
After lunch, join the exotic fruit tasting at Cape Trib Exotic Fruit Farm, only 400 metres from Dragonfly.This is a unique experience, where you taste ten rare tropical fruit, which come from the Amazon, Borneo and the Caribbean, learn how to prepare the fruit, what parts to eat and how to eat them, and then walk through the permaculture orchard.

Availability of package
This package is available from 1 April until 1
November on a daily basis. From November to April, the package does not operate on weekends, or between mid-January and mid-March. It may be possible to do a modified version during this time.

Time to Explore Cape Trib on your own - 3.30 - 4.30pm
After the tasting you have the opportunity to visit Cape Trib beach, the lookout, and explore the Dubiji boardwalk, before heading back to Port Douglas or Cairns, late in the afternoon. We provide you with an information guide and map so you can get the most out of this time.
