Fruit are very small red berries which act on the sour taste buds
to make sour tasting food taste sweet. Comes from West Africa. Enjoy
a lemon as if it was an orange.

Acid, moist soils
are preferred. |

Warm
humid areas - can grow in most parts of the tropics and subtropics.
Killed by frosts. |

Shade and wind
protection are needed when young. Shrubs are slow growing to
3 meters. Usually grown from seed. |

Can bear at any
time in Northern Australia. Dormant phases generally last 4
to 6 weeks. Flowers to fruit takes only 3-4 weeks. |

| Marketing Notes |
Not
a commercial species although there have been some reports of
medical use to ease the taste of yukky medicine. A great plant
to boggle guests taste buds, but not before the beer. |

Food Preparation
You should eat the berries immediately
on picking. We have found that if they are stored in the refrigerator
for a day or so, they often lose their effectiveness in changing
